About Us

Arrowood Manor was built in 1890 and was a prominent winery for the area up until the late 1940s.  After the war, the focus changed from wine to horses and Arrowood Equestrian Center was born.  While the estate has changed hands several times, the legacy has continued to grow with each new owner over time.

English is the primary riding style at Arrowood, with the predominant disciplines being Dressage and Three-Day Eventing.  Our competitors are trained by the best trainers the world has to offer, and our horses always receive the best care money can buy.  World-reknown instructors and veternarians are on-call at any time day or night.

The facilities at Arrowood have grown over the years and now span over 120 acres of pastures, trails, arenas, and barns.  The Center boasts three barns; a competitor and training barn for our competitors, a stallion barn for our studs, and a mare-and-foal barn for our broodmares and new additions.  The mare barn has a state-of-the-art breeding facility and on-site veterinary staff for around-the-clock care.

Several arenas and roundpens can be found on the property.  A large covered arena can be used in inclement weather or for nighttime riding, as well.  All of the arenas are multi-purpose, though a permanent jumping arena is located on-site.  Arrowood also has a sprawling cross-country course for training and events and has miles upon miles of private trails and public trail access for endless trail experiences.

Once a year, a Fox Hunt is held on the Arrowood grounds, opening up the manor to the equestrian public.  The Hunt is held every autumn and began as a tradition back in 1948, shortly after the equestrian side of Arrowood began.  This event draws large crowds and slots fill up quickly so reserve your spot early in the year.

The current owner of Arrowood Equestrian Center is Erik Lark, a young Englishman who relocated to the States for a better opportunity to invest in his love of horses.  Mr. Lark is a brilliant man who has a sharp tongue and an unique sense of humor.  He spends most of his time either with his beloved steeds or in the library with his nose in a book.  Mr. Lark has many secrets, and while he can come across as rude and snobbish, he does have a softer side that not many get to experience.  Count yourself fortunate if you are on his good side.

Here at Arrowood, we age our horses 1 month = 1 year up until they are 4 years old, at which time we will age 2 months = 1 year or 3 months = 1 year, depending.
